在洗选过程中,从原煤中选出既定质量产品的可能性及难易程度。煤的可选性与原煤的性质、产品的质量要求和所应用的选煤方法有关。由于选煤主要用重选,而重选中起主要作用的是颗粒比重,所以通常采用浮沉试验方法研究煤的比重组成,以绘制可选性曲线(见图)。
由曲线可以查出选煤过程中所能达到的理论工艺指标。例如,根据要求的灰分,从曲线上可查出精煤的理论产率及与之相应的分选比重。煤炭可选性难易,可用原煤在分选比重±0.1范围内邻近比重物的多少 (±0.1%)来划分。中国煤炭可选性分类标准见表。
