| 瓦尔德（1902～1950） Wald，Abraham 罗马尼亚裔美国统计学家。1902年10月31日生于罗马尼亚的克卢日，卒于1950年12月13日。1927年入维也纳大学学习数学，1931年获博士学位。后在经济学领域做研究工作。1938年到美国，在哥伦比亚大学做统计推断理论方面的研究工作，写出一些有开创性的学术论文。1943年任副教授，1944年任教授，1946年被任命为新建立的数理统计系的执行官员。 瓦尔德在统计学中的贡献是多方面的，其中最重要的成就，一是1939年开始发展的统计决策理论。他提出了一般的判决问题，引进了损失函数、风险函数、极小极大原则和最不利先验分布等重要概念。另一是序贯分析。在第二次世界大战期间，他为军需品的检验工作首次提出了著名的序贯概率比检验法(简称SPRT)，并研究了这种检验法的各种特性，如计算两类错误概率及平均样本量。他和J.沃尔弗维茨合作证明了SPRT的最优性，被认为是理论统计领域中最深刻的结果之一。他的专著《序贯分析》奠定了序贯分析的基础。 |
