The paper aims at studying the various relations between the explained and explaining words,tracing their evolution and finding out their the law of the language development from the viewpoint of the lexicography and the language history.
前人主要从声训角度加以研究,认为训释字与被训字字形相同的背后,存在语音、语义等方面的联系,二者存在同源滋生关系。
补充资料：《甲骨文字释林》
甲骨文研究著作。于省吾著。是于氏考释殷墟甲骨文字成果的汇集,1979年中华书局出版。书分3卷。上卷收文53篇，是删订40年代出版的旧作《双剑殷契骈枝》及其续编、三编而成的。中、下两卷共收文 135篇，其中有两篇是由原来分别收在《骈枝》及其续编里的文章改写而成的,9篇是改写或修订已发表的论文而成的，其余各篇都没有发表过。另有附录两篇,其中修订旧作而成的和新写的各一篇。全书共收文190篇,绝大多数是对某个或某几个甲骨文字或甲骨文资料中的词语的考释，少数几篇是带有综论性质的，如卷一的《释一至十之纪数字》、卷三的《释具有部分表音的独体象形字》和附录的《释古文字中附划因声指事字的一例》。书前有自序，在介绍本书内容之外，还谈到了考释古文字的方法问题。于省吾考释古文字的态度比较谨严，本书中的考释有不少已经为学术界所接受。
