在信息商品的使用价值上，其理论意义仍然是指信息商品的有用性，但是，信息商品的实际使用价值又不同于一般商品，它具有效用价值和效益价值。所谓信息商品的效用价值是指信息商品的使用者在具备某种信息商品和不具备某种信息商品前后在物质财富和精神财富上的差异，也就是信息商品使用价值通过使用者使用所产生的一种绝对性的效益。所谓信息商品的效益价值是指信息商品的使用者在获得信息后所产生的绝对效用价值减去对这种信息商品投资费用后的所得，这是信息商品使用价值的一种相对性表现。
