| 《西厢记》 中国元代杂剧作品。王实甫著。明中叶有人认为是关汉卿所作，或说王作关续。取材于唐元稹传奇小说《莺莺传》。宋代有鼓子词、转踏说唱莺莺故事，至金，董解元《西厢记诸宫调》出，则是这一故事的集大成者，为《西厢记》的创作奠定了基本构架。王实甫在此基础上浓笔重塑张生的形象，而塑造得最为成功的形象是红娘，历来家传户喻，脍炙人口。《拷红》一折，数百年来屡演不衰。老夫人则作为全剧的反面角色贯串始终 。这个封建家长的化身 ，通过《寺警》、《赖婚》等折，一层层撕下庄严、华贵的面纱，露出冷酷、虚伪的真面目。 王实甫是元人杂剧的高手，擅于描摹环境、酝酿气氛，唱词优美，一曲“碧云天，黄花地，西风紧，北雁南飞”成为千古绝唱；《西厢记》不仅被明代的李日华改编成南曲《西厢记》，清代以后昆曲、京剧等各种地方戏都在演出，而且对汤显祖的《牡丹亭》和曹雪芹的《红楼梦》创作产生了深远影响。历代文人对《西厢记》尤为青睐，现传明、清刻本不下百种，为古典剧作之冠。拉丁文、英文、法文、德文、俄文、意大利文、日文等均有译本，影响所及，遍布全球。
