　　民族经济,简单的说就是民族地区的经济.它分为狭义和广义两个方面,狭义方面主要是指多民族国家少数民族的经济;广义上主要是指一国家或地区为单位的民族经济,比如%26quot;中华民族%26quot;%26quot;日本民族%26quot;等.

　　1979年3月份召开的全国经济科学规划会议上，%26ldquo;中国少数民族经济%26rdquo;被正式列为全国经济科学发展规划(1978%26mdash;1985)30个学科中的第27个学科，1979年9月在中央民族学院（现已改名为中央民族大学）召开的庆祝建国30周年学术讨论会上，施正一先生进一步提出，加强对各民族地区经济的科学研究工作，迫切需要建立和发展民族经济学这一新学科。民族经济学从此踏上了艰难的理论探索和学科建设之路。

　　目前中国的民族经济学主要研究视角是国内的少数民族经济的发展,随着时间的推移和研究力量的增强,民族经济学的研究对象也将涉及国外民族的发展.
