方方（女）（1955—）原名汪芳。原籍江西彭泽县，生于南京。1957年随父母迁至武汉。1974年高中毕业，做了四年装卸工。1978年考入武汉大学中文系。毕业后到湖北电视台任编辑，1989年调作协湖北分会从事专业创作。1975年开始写诗。1982年发表小说处女作《大篷车上》。出版作品集有《大篷车上》、《十八岁进行曲》、《江那一岸》、《一唱三叹》、《行云流水》等。早先的作品以反映青年人的生活和心理为主。1987年发表《风景》（《当代作家》1989年3期），获1987—1988年全国优秀中篇小说奖，被批评界认为“拉开‘新写实主义’序幕”。自此发表的《祖父在父亲心中》、《行云流水》、《桃花灿烂》等一系列作品，均受好评。她着重描写底层人物的生存景状，善于刻画卑琐丑陋的病态人生，以冷峻的眼光剖析人性的弱点，探索生命的本真意义。语气中常透露着一种冷嘲和尖刻，在简洁明快、舒畅淋漓的叙述中蕴含着敏锐的洞察力和深逮的人生思考。
