| 风浪 wind waves 在风直接作用下产生的水面波动。风浪中同时出现许多高低长短不等的波，波面较陡，波峰附近通常有浪花或大片泡沫，此起彼伏，瞬息万变，初看时似无规律可循，但如果将波高、波长和周期等量视为随机量，就能用统计学的观点，研究风浪的运动规律，并根据风来计算一些特征量，如部分大波或各种波的平均波高和平均周期等。这些代表风浪强度的特征量，决定于风速，风作用区域（风区）的长短或风作用时间（风时）的久暂。
在一定风速下，风浪随风区的扩展和风时的延长而成长。在离风区上侧边界很远的地方，风浪只随时间成长，处于过渡状态；在风区上侧边界附近，风浪只随至此边界的距离的增大而成长，处于定常状态。如果风速一定，则风浪成长至一定的大小时，内部消耗的能量和从风摄取的能量达到平衡。此时，即使风区和风时不受限制，风浪便不再成长，而处于充分成长的状态。 |
