   (Common ShoVeller;铲土鸭、宽嘴鸭) 
    在我国分布于新疆、内蒙古、青海、河北、山东直至长江以南各省区。国外分布于欧洲、亚洲、北美和东非等地区。
    体长约500毫米。雄鸭头和上颈黑色而有紫绿色光泽；胸部白色；腹部栗色；肩羽成长饰羽状；翼镜绿色。雌鸭呈黄褐色。眼黄色或金黄色，但雌性呈黄褐色。脚橙红色或棕黄色；爪蓝黑色。
    栖息于淡水水域。多在浅水处把头没于水下并用铲形的嘴来获取甲壳动物、鱼卵、蛙、小鱼等食物，有时也挖掘泥中的植物为食。以草类为材料筑巢于芦苇及沼泽区域。每窝产卵8-14枚，卵呈淡黄色或浅灰绿色。秋季迁飞到长江以南各地越冬。夏季在我国北方繁殖。
   嘴形奇特，羽色鲜明，具有观赏价值。
