指真菌、细菌、病毒、线虫侵染水稻致病和非侵染性生理病害。世界上生长在水稻上的微生物约230余种。中国发生的侵染性病害中，已知真菌病约50种、细菌病4种、病毒病8种、线虫病10种。其中稻瘟病广泛分布于世界各稻区，也是中国稻区的重要病害；稻纹枯病各稻区普遍发生，以长江流域为害较大；稻白叶枯病主要分布于亚洲、大洋洲稻区，中国南方稻区发生已有70多年的历史。
