营城组沉积早期的火山活动形成了徐家围子断陷大面积分布的火山岩,兴城地区火山岩平面分布与深大断裂关系密切,在营城组沉积时期沿着该断裂发生了大规模的火山喷发,形成了长条形的火山岩建造,兴城地区火山岩划分出3个近北北西走向的火山岩带,中带呈长条形。
