内部空间(inner spaee)新精神分析学者E.埃里克森用来指女性内展的躯体构造以及由此所决定的女性心理和角色特征的术语。他邀请10一12岁的男女儿童建造电影中的有趣场景，结果发现，女孩倾向于建造围起平静的内部场景，其中的人或动物一般是不动的。而男孩倾向一于建造隆起的、动荡的、伴有崩塌的外部场景，其中的人或动物一般是活动的。他据此认为，女孩描述内部空间，男孩描述外部空间，女性突出的是封闭、防护和接受，男性突出的是隆起、外投和主动。这与两性的机体解剖特性是一致的，躯体构造的空间组织决定了生殖方式，进而也决定了两性的心理活动和社会角色。女性的阴道、子宫等内部空间导致了女性同一性的形成并使之不同于男性。这种内部空间承担着抚养后代的生理、心理和伦理的义务。埃里克森依据身体构造解释女性心理，带有生物学化倾向。 (葛会嘉撰高玉祥审)
