由二流体模型，液HeⅡ中由无熵的超流成分和温度T≠0K时呈现有熵的正常成分两部分组成。A，B是两个装有HeⅡ的容器，底部用很细的毛细管C相连接。开始时A和B的液面高度一样且它们的温度也相同。然后在A上加压，不载熵的超流成分通过C流入B，而正常成分有黏滞仍保留在A中，致使单位体积的熵在A中增大，而在B中减小，在绝热条件下，A的温度将升高，B的温度将下降，造成有温差ΔT，这就是HeⅡ的机械热效应。
