【来源】
为金粟兰科金粟兰属植物银线草chloranthus japonicus sieb.，以根部入药。夏秋采集，晒干。
注：同属多种植物都常有四片顶生叶，一般于银线草同等使用：（1）宽叶金粟兰chloranthus henryi hemsl.；（2）东南金粟兰（四叶金）chloranthus oldhami solms-laub.；（3）丝穗金粟兰（水晶花）chloranthus fortunei （a. gray） solms-laub.；（4）全缘金粟兰（平头细辛、红线草）chloranthus fortunei （a. gray） solms-laub. var. holostegius hand.-mazz.。
【性味归经】辛、苦，温。有毒。
【功能主治】散寒止咳，活血止痛，散瘀解毒。用于风寒咳嗽，风湿骨痛，闭经；外用治跌打损伤，淤血肿痛，毒蛇咬伤。5％的水浸液可杀灭孑孓。
【用法用量】 5～8分；外用适量，捣烂敷患处。
【注意】有心脏病、吐血史及孕妇忌服。
