      以碳纤维(或石墨纤维)为骨架来增强以碳或石墨为基质而构成的复合材料。它除了具有块状石墨的很多性能外,在力学性能、抗热震性能和高压烧蚀性能上都优于块状石墨。但由于造价昂贵,目前仅能用于军工,如远程导弹的端头鼻锥、火箭发动机喷管喉衬和隔热屏、高速飞机的刹车片,以及原子能反应堆中的部件等(见碳化高分子)。
  
  碳-碳复合材料的制造,可用碳纤维的短纤维、长纤维缠绕、碳毡、碳布或定形织物、三向织物(即按 x、y、z轴三维编织体)等作骨架。复合方法有化学气相沉积法和浸渍碳化法两种。前法用低分子碳氢化合物在较高的温度下反复进行沉积,由于沉积物容易在入口处堆积,造成瓶颈效应,所以密度在1.8克/厘米3以下。后法则用可碳化物质(如沥青)、热固性树脂或二者的混合物进行浸渍,再经压力下固化、碳化、石墨化处理等工序,反复进行直到取得所需的密度(可达 2.0克/厘米3)。上述二法也可交替进行。但是,上述各法的工艺周期都很长,如何提高效率和进一步改善性能有待研究。
