上海城市管理职业技术学院是国家教育部备案的全日制普通高校，隶属于上海市建设和管理委员会。上海市园林学校、上海市住宅建设学校为学院的附属中专。
学院的前身--上海市业余土木建筑学院，创建于1956年11月，著名市政和道路工程专家赵祖康为第一任院长，建设市政专业知名人士徐以枋、陈植、钱学中等先后担任学院院长。2001年4月，经上海市人民政府批准，正式转型为独立设置的高等职业技术学院，现任院长为王其康先生。
校区分布
学院占地总面积22公顷（328亩），建筑面积41000平方米，正在规划建设的建筑32000平方米。学院有四个校区（虹漕南路123号、河南北路301号、军工路2360号、杨树浦路2219号）及若干个分校和教学点。
办学规模
学院注重学生综合素质和能力的培养，积极为学生取得“一张文凭，多种证书”创造条件，选派优秀学生赴新加坡、香港和全国各地参加大型专业展览和学术活动，建立了完善的奖学金、助学贷款等制度。现开办全日制高职教育、成人高等学历教育、成人培训教育、中等职业技术教育以及中外合作办学，教职工总数380人，在校学历生5600余名，每年开展各类成人培训13000余人次。
