形态特征:石竹科石竹属多年生草本植物，高30-50厘米。 茎丛生，直立，上部稍分枝。叶条状披针形，对生，全缘。聚伞花序项生，花淡紫红色，稀白色，花瓣。缘细裂成流苏状，基部有须毛。蒴果狭圆筒形。种子扁宽卵形，边缘具翅。花果期7-9月。
生境分布:生于林缘、疏林下和草甸中。分布于全国各地。欧、亚洲温带地区也有。
用途:地上部分入药(药材名:瞿麦)，能清湿热、利小便、活血通经，主治膀腕炎、尿道炎、泌尿系统结石、妇女经闭、皮肤湿疮。并可作观赏植物。
