Z一Huanehongq*suanfaz·缓冲器算法(z一boffer al,r ithm)利用记录图形深度的缓冲存储器实现面消隐的一种简单实用算法。该算法最早于1975年由E.心tmull提出。它是在图象空间实施消隐的算法。按惯例,通常将图象平面即投影屏幕定义为x一y面,因而视点正投影方向即为z轴负方向。用于记录投影方向上物体投影深度值的缓冲存储器便称为Z一缓冲器,该算法由此而得名。 Z一缓冲器是一组存储单元,其单元数目和屏幕上象素数目相同,即通常与帧缓冲器的单元数目相同。它用来存储图象空间中与每一可见象素相应的物体深度或z坐标。Z一缓冲器是一个独立的缓冲器,它与帧缓冲器配合使用完成面消隐功能。Z一缓冲器中每个单元的初值取为z的极小值;帧缓冲器每个单元的初值取为对应画面背景颜色或灰度值。图形消隐是在图形绘制的过程中同时实现的。在图形绘制时,当把显示对象的每一点(象素)的属性(颜色或灰度)值填人帧缓冲器相应单元前,要把该点的z坐标值与Z一缓冲器中相应单元内的值作比较。如果前者大于后者,则改变帧缓冲器中相应单元的值,同时Z一缓冲器中相应单元的值更新为该点的z坐标值;反之,如果该点的二坐标值小于Z一缓冲器中相应单元的值,则说明该点要比原先已显示的点更远离观察者,因而是被遮挡的点,为此无须改变帧缓冲器和Z一缓冲器中相应单元的值。当环境中每个物体都处理完之后,便可得到消除了隐藏面的完整图形。此时图象中每个象素点均呈现离视点最近的物体上相应点的颜色或灰度值。 该算法的优点是简单、可靠,对显示对象的处理次序无任何限制,因而无须在绘制之前对显示对象进行排序处理。同时此算法对显示对象的类型限制甚少,只要计算其在屏幕上的投影以及相应的投影深度即可。该算法的缺点是需要较大容量的Z一缓冲器,且需对每个显示对象的每个象素投影点求取深度z值。但因为该技术算法简单,适应性强,因而成为一种颇为实用的面消隐技术。特别是在某些高性能图形工作站上,Z一缓冲器被设计为可选的专用存储器,其算法由硬件实现,从而成为一种用户可选的绘制方式。
