}12一x一tong粒子系统(partie一e采用大量随时间而变的粒子图元来描述自然景物的一种造型方法。粒子系统中的每个粒子随着它寿命的增加，可以产生新的粒子，亦可以得到新的属性，也可以消亡，粒子还可以遵循确定的或随机的运动规律改变其位置。 最早的粒子系统是由W.T.Teeves于1983年提出来的。他使用粒子系统来模拟火焰。每个粒子代表一个小光点，它随着时间推移改变位置与颜色，产生一条运动轨迹。所有粒子的运动轨迹的叠加可以构成逼真的火焰画面。后来粒子系统又被用来模拟森林中的树木和草丛。一个粒子系统表示一棵树或一簇草丛。在表示树的粒子系统中，最早出现的粒子表示树干、树权。树权被随机地放置在树干的不同位置。随着时间推移，树权上长出的下一代粒子表示树枝，其长度、粗细、分支等按一组随机数在一定范围内选择。经过若干代后，粒子表示树叶。粒子系统还可以用于模拟烟、雾、爆炸、烟花爆竹等。
