豆科小冠花属的一个种,学名Coronilla varia L.,多年生草本。又名小冠花。为反刍家畜的优良饲草作物。也用作水土保持或果园覆盖。原产于南欧和地中海东部地区。中国山西、陕西、甘肃、河南、云南、辽宁、北京等省、市大面积繁殖。
根系发达,有主根和发达的侧根,侧根多水平方向扩展,茎中空有棱,质软而柔嫩,半匍匐生长,长100-150cm,草层高60-100cm。奇数羽状复叶,小叶长卵圆形。伞形花序,腋生,花冠粉红色。荚果细长如指状,成熟后易自节处断裂成单节,每节有种子1粒,种子细长,红棕色,千粒重4g左右。
耐寒性较强,在长城以南都可安全越冬,绿色期较长,轻霜不致枯萎。耐热,耐旱,在年降雨量400mm左右的半干旱地区生长良好。不耐涝,最宜在土层深厚、排水良好、pH6-7的沃土壤上生长。可春播或夏播,条播行距30cm,播深1-2cm,每公顷播种量4-8kg。亦可用根蘖芽进行无性繁殖,把粗壮的根系挖出,截成15-20cm长的小段,埋入土中,覆土4-6cm,保持土壤一定湿度即可成活。移栽密度种子田每660m21200株,刈草地2500-3000株。
鲜草含干物质20%,在干物质中含粗蛋白质19.8%,粗脂肪2.9%,粗纤维21.2%,无氮浸出物46.2%,灰分9.9%,钙1.6%,磷0.3%。对羊适口性好,牛则需短时间适应才喜采食。开花多、花期长,是良好的蜜源植物。
