民族特征之一。民族内部的经济联系，是民族形成的决定性条件。民族共同经济生活和该民族的社会生产方式有着密切的联系，但并不是社会生产方式本身。它是指一个民族内部,由于各个区域间的交换日益频繁,商品流通逐渐增长，各个不大的地方市场集中成全民族市场，从而使各地区互相依存，把人们结合成为一个整体的经济联系。这种联系在各个民族中，由于社会经济发展水平不尽相同，必然会有差异。但是，如无这种经济联系和共同的经济生活，民族的形成和存在是不可能的。相反，如果一个民族的各个部分在经济上长期互相隔绝，它们就会被同化于其他民族，或者与其他民族一起形成新的民族。共同经济生活的具体内容，是由生产方式的性质决定的。在剥削阶级社会里，由于民族内部存在阶级对立，民族共同经济生活包含着对抗性矛盾。在社会主义社会里，因为民族内部消灭了剥削制度和剥削阶级，基本上摆脱了对抗性矛盾。民族共同经济生活的特点是：民族内部是统一的，根本利益是一致的。
