1950年 8月由19位马来亚青年作家在新加坡组成的文艺团体,亦称"五十年代派"。他们提出的理想是"社会正义、人民繁荣、生活安定"，并认为这是作家的历史使命。他们致力于"发展和提高马来亚文化与文学"，"进行文学革新";主张"为社会而艺术",反对"为艺术而艺术";主张文学作品必须真实反映社会现实,起到针砭时弊、教育人民的作用，并认为文学创作是实行精神革命的手段。他们多数来自社会基层，经历过殖民主义的统治，他们的作品广泛地反映农村、渔乡的生活以及罢工风潮，具有强烈的现实感和浓郁的生活气息。多数为短篇小说和新诗，反映战后马来亚社会贫困化和劳动人民对苦难生活的悲愤，也表现革命者争取国家独立的决心，有"被压迫者文学"之称。他们的创作方向对独立后的马来文学产生了很大影响。
