闽台民间具有厚重的宗族乡土意识,通过修谱、标榜郡望、堂号,修建祠堂、宗庙、会馆,举行祭祀、合食会食、迎神赛会等活动来体现亲和力,进而团结、帮助、保护同族同乡之人;其负面作用是具有很强的排他性,各宗族、地区产生分裂和对立,甚至发生械斗。
