隋代日本推古天皇朝派遣到中国的使节团。当时圣德太子摄政，600年、607年、608年、614年四次遣使入隋。前两次使节为小野妹子。隋也曾派使臣裴世清赴日。圣德太子的意图是求取佛经，促进佛教的流通，和吸取中国的文化与典章制度。所以使臣之外，有学生和僧人随同前来。被选派的,多为归化汉人的后裔,以有利于学习。他们留居中国往往长达三十余年。如南渊请安、高向玄理、僧旻等，回国以后,对646年的大化改新起了重要的促进作用。
