集体潜意识(eoll。。tiv。uneonseious)亦称“种族潜意识”。荣格分析心理学的核心和主导概念。指心灵结构最底层的潜意识部分，是生物进化和文化历史发展过程所获得的心理上的沉淀物，是包括祖先在内的世世代代的活动方式和经验库存在人脑结构中的遗传痕迹。它同个体潜意识的区别有二:(l)它不是个体后天习得的，而是由种族先天遗传的。(2)它不是被意识遗忘的部分，而是一个始终意识不到的东西。荣格用岛打个比喻，露出水面的那些小岛为个体觉知的意识部分;由于潮汐运动而显露出来的水面下的地面部分，就是个体潜意识:而岛的最底层属于广大基地的海床，就是集体潜意识。其内容是由全部本能及其相联系的原型所组成。其中，本能是原始的行为倾向，原型是本能行为在心灵中的模型，原始意象则是原型的象征表现和形象化表述。集体潜意识是全人类经验的积淀，具有重要的精神价值。这在古代神话、宗教传说中有显著的表现，但科学在破除迷信的同时也破坏了这种精神价值，使我们的集体潜意识也受到了损伤。他主张人要有意识地驾驭集体潜意识的力量，发挥自动的机能系统的作用，实现人格的整合。 (牟丈博撰王启康审)
