宋末元初道士。字元素,号清庵,又自号莹蟾子。都梁（今湖南武冈）人，得白玉蟾弟子王金蟾授受，为玄门宗匠。其学以全真道南宗为主，兼取北宗。通老、易，达禅机。尝作颂云："人情多聚散，世道有兴衰，惟有真常在，古今无改移。"认为修仙之大法在于万变中求其"不易"之真道，"先持戒、定、慧而虚其心，后炼精、气、神而保其身"，而至于"混成圆顿，直入无为，性命双全，形神俱妙"。谓丹道之玄关即"中"字，能"致中和"则"四大咸安,百骸俱理"。他精研道意,广授门人，方法多变。著有《护命经注》，《大通经注》、《洞古经注》、《清静经注》、《全真集玄秘要》、《道德会元》、《清庵莹蟾子语录》、《中和集》、《三天易髓》、《周易尚占》等。
