神灵主义医学模式是远古时代的医学模式。远古时代，人们认为世间的一切是由超自然的神灵主宰，疾病乃是神灵的惩罚或者是妖魔鬼怪附身，故把患病称为“得”病，对待疾病则依赖巫术驱凶祛邪，而死亡是“归天”，是灵魂与躯体分离，被神灵召唤去了。这种把人类的健康与疾病。生与死都归之于无所不在的神灵，就是人类早期的健康与疾病观，即神灵主义医学模式。
