隋智兴，居大庄严寺，职掌扣钟。大业五年，同住僧三果者，有兄从驾道亡，其妻梦夫谓曰：“吾至彭城，病死堕地狱中，赖庄严寺鸣钟，响振地狱，乃得解脱。欲报其恩，可奉绢十疋。”妻奉绢兴以散众，众问：“扣钟何以致感？”兴曰：“吾扣钟始祝曰‘愿诸圣贤同入道场。’乃□发三下，及长扣，又祝曰‘愿诸恶趣闻我钟声，俱离苦恼。’”严冬极冻，皮裂肉皴，掌内凝血，无所辞劳。
