| 欧文（1771～1858） Owen，Robert 英国空想社会主义者。1771年5月14日生于威尔士蒙哥马利郡牛顿城，1858年11月17日卒于同地。10岁辍学当学徒，19岁成为曼彻斯特一家纱厂经理，1800年以后在苏格兰新拉纳克管理一个巨大的纺纱企业。他在新拉纳克自己管理的工厂中进行改革，诸如开设为工人供应廉价物品的商店，把劳动时间缩短到10个半小时，提高工人工资，改善工人居住条件，为工人子女开办托儿所、幼儿园和师范学校等。新拉纳克的试验取得了巨大成就，欧文成为闻名欧洲的改革家和慈善家。1815年他积极参加了争取制订缩短工作日和禁止使用童工的工厂立法的斗争。1817年又提出组织合作村安置失业者的方案，1820年左右，这个方案发展成一套完整的合作社会主义思想体系。他建议普遍设立合作村，按照财产公有 、权利平等和共同劳动的原则建立一个没有剥削的新的理性社会。1824年欧文在美国印第安纳州买下1214公顷土地，开始新和谐移民区实验，但实验以失败告终。1829年回到英国 ，创办《危机》杂志，宣传他的观点，并积极参加和领导工会运动和合作社运动。1832年他在伦敦建立全国公平劳动交换商场，试图通过劳动交换商场来避免中间剥削。1834年又发起成立全国产业大联合，但均告失败。
1834年以后，欧文脱离工人运动，反对工人进行政治斗争，但仍不倦地宣传自己的思想。著有《新社会观，或论人类性格的形成》、《致拉纳克郡的报告》、《新道德世界书》、《人类思想和实践中的革命》等。 |
