This article mainly presents the four aspects of a structured abstract of the medical English paper, including objective, methods, results and conclusion, and explores their writing contents and methods, tense and voice and sentence patterns.

(Swales s) Genre Analysis theory is applied to examining the following three aspects of the abstract: schematic structure, tense & voice,syntactical and lexical features The paper addresses the conventionality of abstract so that the members in the discourse community may grasp and apply the mechanism of the abstract in their own writing.

English tenses not only simply express the sense of time , but also have special function of expressing variety of feelings .

However, the research on the subjectivity in English tenses has not been deeply conducted yet.
