国一禅师。师讳道钦。苏州昆山朱氏子。初业儒。年二十八遇润州鹤林素禅师。勉之剃落。乃戒之曰。汝乘流而行。逢径即止。师遂南迈。玄宗天宝三载抵临安东北一山。樵者曰。此径山也。乃驻锡焉。山有龙渊。龙王首化身为人。献其地于师。乃成伽蓝(在今淅西道杭州路余杭县径山禅寺是也。禅宗十方第一刹)。僧问。如何是道。师曰。山上有鲤鱼。井底有蓬尘。崔赵公问。弟子今欲出家得否。师曰。出家乃大丈夫事。非将相之所能为。公有省。代宗大历三年诏至阙下。帝亲瞻礼。帝谓忠国师曰。朕欲赐钦师一名。国师欣然奉诏。乃赐号国一禅师。后辞归径山。至是十二月示疾。说法而逝。帝赐谥大觉禅师。师嗣鹤林素。素嗣建康牛头山威禅师。威嗣牛头持。持嗣牛头方。方嗣牛头岩。岩嗣牛头融。融嗣四祖。乃四祖旁出之派也(传灯)
