（譬喻）众水入海。则为同一咸味，四姓出家，则皆为一味如大海。故云海众。又譬众之多者曰海。增一阿含经四十四曰：“此阎浮提有四大河，一切诸流皆投归于海。众僧如彼大海，所以然者，流河决水以入于海便灭本名，但有大海之名耳。”往生要集中本曰：“清净大海众。”
