This paper reviews and summarizes the research of the academic circle in recent decade on the concept of honesty and faith in the vernacular short stories of Ming dynasty,focusing the relationship between the concept of honesty and faith and the concept of value,the new concept of morality,the chivalrous ethics,and the concept of retributive justice.

The vernacular short stories of Ming Dynasty paid much more attention to plot because it depended on "storytelling" skills in Song and Yuan Dynasties.
