This article gives an analysis of the Shang-Zhou-archaeological cultural properties in the middle and upper reaches of the Yuan River and originally reveals that the setup of Miao,Yao,Tujia,and Dong minorities in this area was formed during the Shang and Zhou period.

The migration in the middle reaches of Yuanjiang River started as early as the warring states, and through migration from Qin and Han, South dynasty, Tang and Song to till Ming Dynasty, Han nationality established its main status in the valley basin.
