西羽，原名徐迺翔，浙江绍兴人。中共党员。1960年毕业于复旦大学中文系。任中国社会科学院文学研究所助理研究员、副研究员、研究员。中华文学史料学学会常务副会长，同济大学海外华文文学研究所客座研究员，中国解放区文学研究会理事，中国毛泽东诗词研究会理事。1946年开始发表作品。1988年加入中国作家协会。著有专著《中国现代作家评传》(4卷)、《中国抗战时期沦陷区文学史》、《新加坡华文文学史》、《中国现代文学作者笔名录》，主编《台湾新文学辞典》等。
