补充资料:慧皎(497~554)
南朝梁时僧人、佛教史学家。会稽上虞(今属浙江)人。出家后博通内外学,于佛教经、律深有研究。住会稽嘉祥寺,春夏讲经弘法,秋冬专心著述。又曾住会稽宏普寺,有丰富的藏书。梁大同六年至太清元年(540~547)湘东王萧绎任江州刺史时,曾向他征求资料。承圣二年(553)为避兵乱,迁居湓城(今江西九江),仍不废讲说。所著《涅槃经义疏》10卷和《梵网经疏》3卷,均早佚。现仅存《高僧传》14卷。他自称立传以德行高超为标准。依据史籍、地志、僧传凡数十家,内容精审,义例明确,条理清晰,文采斐然。所创传记体例对后世的僧传,有深远影响。
