(术语)去娑婆世界往弥陀如来之极乐净土,谓之往,化生于彼土莲华中,谓之生。往生之言虽通于诸受生,而诸教所劝之行,偏在极乐,故常以为对于极乐之别名,是净土门之至要骨目也。法华经药草喻品曰:“即往安乐世界阿弥陀佛大菩萨众围绕住处,生莲华中宝座之上。”无量寿经下曰:“诸有众生闻其名号,信心欢喜,乃至一念至心回向,愿生彼国。即得往生住不退转。”观无量寿经曰:“愿生彼国者,发三种心,即便往生。”
