This paper,based on the cognitive experiences of human kind,regards the force transmission as the core of causation and gives asemantic and syntactic analysis of English subjective causative verbs,in expectation of unveil the essence of causation.

Till now many people have made investigations into English causative verbs, butthey focus mainly on the definition, classification, lexicosemantic structures and functions.

Conventional linguists have confined their studies on causation to the semantic and syntactic features of causative verbs, not paying enough attention to the relations between the conceptualization of causation and causative expressions.
