江西曲种。流传于江西各地。南昌、宁都、吉安、高安、抚州、黎川、安义、景德镇、万年等地称为道情；波阳、湖口、上饶、宁冈、萍乡、石城等地称为渔鼓。形式基本相同，曲调则因各地方言、语音不同而形成多种风格。唱腔以上下句或四句一段的板式变化体为多，也有以小曲为基调的曲牌联套体，称为小曲渔鼓。也有二者并存的。宁冈渔鼓、抚州道情、上饶渔鼓等与湖南渔鼓、湖北渔鼓的曲调旋律有些相近。其他地方的道情渔鼓多具有江西地方的独特风格，如宁都道情的唱腔来源于乞讨者所唱的小调"过街溜"和算命腔调，旋律流畅，节奏变化较大；湖口渔鼓吸收了当地丰富的渔歌和小调,具有浓厚的水乡风味;波阳渔鼓吸收了当地的大鼓书、山歌、渔歌及民歌小调的旋律，曲调富于变化。
江西道情由一人坐唱，演唱形式有两种：一种是演唱者左手持渔鼓，用右手食指、中指和无名指并列拍击鼓面，称为"一响";也有左手加用小竹板轻击竹筒,称为"二响"；还有左手再加拿一片小钹，右手以竹签轻击钹边,称为"三响"；另一种不同渔鼓,而用二胡伴奏。各地道情的传统曲目多以长篇为主，取材于历史故事和民间传说。也有一些取材于当地实事和神话故事的独有曲目。第二次国内革命战争时期,宁都道情、吉安道情等都编唱过一些配合革命斗争的曲目，如《送郎当红军》、《苏区景》、《妇女剪发歌》、《暴动歌》等。中华人民共和国成立后，各地对一些传统曲目进行了整理加工，并编演了反映革命历史和现实生活的新曲目，在内容和形式方面都有新的发展。
