1945年米格设计局在设计的一架技术验证机，用来测试鸭翼结构的低速特性，这就是米格-8，绰号“鸭子”，装备一台m-11发动机。米格-8为米格设计局后来对鸭翼的研究奠定了良好的基础，米格设计局自此对鸭翼结构的研究一直未断，并在80年代得出了与欧洲相似的结论，认为鸭翼结构最能兼顾高速和中低速飞行性能，后来的新型战斗机也采用了这种气动布局。米格-8被评论为“最不像米格”的米格飞机，也是少有的采用偶数编号的米格飞机。
