补充资料：骨化石含氟量断代
利用骨化石中的含氟量来估计相对年代的断代技术。地下水中的氟进入埋在地下的骨头中，会使骨头中的无机磷化合物──羟基磷灰石变为氟磷灰石。由于这一过程是不可逆的，因此骨头中的氟含量愈高，表示埋在地下的时间愈长。又由于吸附地下水中的铀，骨头中的含铀量逐渐增加；因蛋白质逐渐分解消失，骨头中的含氮量不断减少。因此，往往可同时用 3种方法进行检验以作比较。实际上地下的环境条件各地是不一样的，这种化学变化的速度不可能完全一样，所以不能作绝对断代，但可以区别同一地点地下骨化石的时代早晚。曾用此方法鉴定一度被认为是早期原始人类的英国皮尔当人化石，结果证明是伪造的。
