通过对扬子地台北缘─－宜昌峡东黄陵背斜东西两翼若干条晚震旦世陡山沱组剖面的系统研究，发现并获得了丰富的微古植物及宏体生物化石；并依次描述了其类型特征，总结了其在垂向地层中的分布演化规律，建立了两个宏体生物化石群落。
