管枝藻目的 1属。藻体由一个大的囊状细胞或许多梨形、棍棒状和不规则形的育枝囊密集而成,在育枝囊囊壁上散生着附着胞,附着胞侧面与邻近的育枝囊相连。藻体基部有镜细胞,从镜细胞上长出单细胞的小假根。成熟细胞有一明显的中央液泡,叶绿体网状排列,多数含有一个蛋白核。常见种类有:单球法囊藻、囊状法囊藻和法囊藻。
本属有18种,分布在热带和亚热带海中。中国约有3种,产于南海和台湾省南部沿岸,生长在环礁内潮间带或低潮线附近的礁石上。
