分子式C6H7O3NS，分子量173.84。亦称磺胺酸。白色或灰白色晶体。从水溶液中结晶出来的是一水合物，热至100℃时失水。无水物在288℃时熔化。微溶于水，几乎不溶于乙醇、乙醚和苯，易溶于沸水。有显著的酸性，能溶于氢氧化钠溶液或碳酸钠溶液。用于生产偶氮染料和有机试剂，也可用作防治麦锈病的农药。由苯胺与浓硫酸在180～190℃时共热制得。
