邦溪坡鹿自然保护区
邦溪坡鹿自然保护区位于白沙黎族自治县境内邦溪镇，建立于1976年10月，面积357.8公顷，海拔127-170米之间。距县城牙叉镇约53公里，距海南西线高速公路约2公里。为省级自然保护区，主要保护对象是海南坡鹿及其生态环境。保护区内主要动物有海南坡鹿、海南兔、蟒、穿山甲、原鸡、海南山鹧鸪等。
海南邦溪坡鹿自然保护区自1521年有记载始，至1936年之前，全岛外围地带几乎都有坡鹿分布。上世纪五六十年代，随着人类生活圈扩展，坡鹿分布点缩减至西部经济相对落后地区。至七十年代末、八十年代初，坡鹿仅残留不足30只，邻近灭绝边缘。由此成了国家一级保护动物，被称为“稀世之宝”。
邦溪地区是海南坡鹿的原生地，区内有维管束植物有101科、284属、374种，其中151种为坡鹿喜食植物，是坡鹿生殖繁衍的理想之地。七十年代末尚有坡鹿群在境内生活，但至八十年代初，由于捕捉和滥杀全部灭绝。九十年代初，海南邦溪省级自然保护区重新恢复，从东方大田野外捕捉了18头坡鹿回来训养。经过13年来的努力，坡鹿已从原来18头增加到几百头。
邦溪镇是镇级建制，地名很有意思，邦溪在黎语里音近“烧鸡”，据传因有人偷鸡用火烧熟吃而得名。境内有海榆公路和邦（溪）什（运）公路。邦溪区内气候属于热型热带气候，有别于海南岛内其它区域，旱湿季明显，旱季长达7-8个月，雨季短，集中在8、9月份，年平均降雨量约1000mm。日照时间长且强，平均温度24°c，极端最高温37.5°c。极端最低温3°c，年蒸发量高达2500mm，是降雨量的2.5倍。
