      利用流动中的水被突然制动时所产生的能量,使其中一部分水压升到一定高度的一种泵。图为水锤泵的工作示意。沿进水管向下流动的水流至单向阀A(静重负载阀)附近时,水流冲力(只要流动速度足够大,就有足够的冲力)使阀迅速关闭。水流突然停止流动,水流的动能即转换成压力能,于是管内水的压力升高,将单向阀B 冲开,一部分水即进入空气室中并沿出水管上升到一定的高度。随后,由于进水管中压力降低,阀A在静重作用下自动落下,回复到开启状态。同时空气室中的压缩空气促使阀 B关闭,整个过程遂又重复进行。利用水锤泵可以使进水管中流动的水大约15%压升到相当于5倍进水管落差的高度。水锤泵的效率η=ε·嗞。式中嗞为压升水流量与向下流动的工作水流量之比;ε为压升高度加上出水管中损失水头与工作水落差之比。好的水锤泵效率可达86%。进水管的安装倾斜度在1:9至1:4的范围内,以便使水流制动效果最好。水锤泵没有运动的工作元件,结构简单,而且不需要外部动力源,也无须专人看管。设计泵时须考虑泵构件的强度,避免因水锤作用而破裂。
