中世纪暖期（medieval warm period，简称为mwp ），又称为中世纪气候最佳期（medieval climate optimum）
中世纪暖期是欧洲中世纪时代的一个不寻常的温暖期，从大约十世纪一直持续到十四世纪。也有人认为，更适合这个时期的名字是“中世纪气候异常期”（medieval climate anomaly）。中世纪暖期通常与全球变暖和温室效应的讨论有关。
最初关于中世纪暖气和接下来的小冰期的研究大部分是在欧洲完成的，因为在那里大气资料保存得非常完善和清楚。最初人们认为温度的变化是全球性的。但是，这种观点已经被质疑。ipcc（政府间气候变化小组）2001年的报告说：“当前的证据并不能证明在上述时间段中，气温的异常有着全球性的同步状况。而且传统的‘小冰期’和‘中世纪暖期’这样的术语看来，似乎已经在说明长大数个世纪的北半球或全球气温变化状况统一性时，产生了一些阻碍。”（注1）
在中世纪暖期中，欧洲和南部不列颠开始种植酿酒用的葡萄（注2），尽管种植量与今天相比差得很远（注3）。维京人利用解冻的海面，在格陵兰和其他北部的边远地区殖民。中世纪暖期之后是气温较低的小冰期，后者一直持续到全球变暖开始的十九世纪。
