土鲁沟位于兰州市西北160公里处的永登县连城林区内，属祁连山脉的东麓，是一以奇山秀水为主体的自然景观旅游区，被誉为“神话般的绿色山谷”。
吐鲁沟中的“吐鲁”是古代的蒙语，意为“大、好”，或“美好的果园族杂居”。吐鲁沟曾为多民地区，这里受山地气候的影响，降水量丰富，沟内峰峦叠嶂，林木苍密，曲径通杂，吐奇纳秀，成为一毫无人工雕凿的原始的自然风景区。区内有发源于博峰的吐鲁河由西北向东南流过，至三岔汇合后，经前沟汇入大通河。沿河谷修有公路直通沟内，两岸步移景异，气象万千。
