新四军在京沪(今宁沪)铁路上袭击日军的战斗。1939年9月30日晚，新四军第2支队第4团3个连队越过京杭国道(今宁杭公路)，进到江苏省江宁县龙潭和句容县仓头之间。经过侦察，决定炸毁京沪铁路上的火车，歼灭山口村的日军警戒分队，并打击由龙潭前来增援之敌。10月3日夜，第4团直属侦察连、特务连、警卫连和地方武装一部进抵预定地点埋伏，并在山口村左边铁桥一侧铁轨下埋设地雷。4日凌晨5时，山口村日军7人出来警戒，走到侦察连设伏地点，被击毙6人，1人从水沟里逃跑。20多分钟后，仓头日军护路队二三十人从右边冲来。接着，另两路日军护路队约100人从背后山头包抄过来。第4团部队顽强抗击。这时从南京方向开来的一列火车，被地雷炸翻。第4团遂撤出战斗。此次战斗，炸毁火车头1辆、车厢两节，炸翻车厢4节，炸死车内日军约50人，毙伤日军约70人。京沪铁路因而3天未通车。新四军伤8人。
