描述ZeniaChun翅荚木属，云实科，只有翅荚木Z.insignisChun1种，产我国两广，木材很坚实，纹理密致，是一种很有价值的优良木材。落叶乔木；奇数羽状复叶，无托叶；小叶9－13对，互生，全缘，无小托叶；花两性，近辐射对称，组成顶生的圆锥花序；萼片5，覆瓦状排列；花瓣5，红色，覆瓦状排列；发育雄蕊4，稀5枚；花盘小，深波状分裂；子房具短柄，有胚珠数颗；荚果膜质，压扁，不开裂，椭圆状长圆形，有网状脉纹，腹缝有阔翅。
